The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes S02E13 Quick Review

Captain America and Spider-Man

Enter Spider-Man. Webhead make his debut on EMH. He and Captain America get an opportunity to redeem themselves as true heroes in the eyes of the public. J. Jonah Jameson (Voiced by J.K. Simmons! Yay!) wants a scoop about Captain America possibly being an enemy to the entire planet (Those stupid Skrulls) and assigns Betty Brant and Peter Parker to interview Cap. Tony Stark pleads that Cap won’t be available at first, but JJJ threatens to run a negative report on Cap the next day so Stark obliges.

Viper and Cobra were being escorted by S.H.I.E.L.D. but the Serpent Society tries to break them out. It leads to a struggle in the subway tunnel with Cap and Spidey protecting innocents from the Serpent Society. The Serpents were relentless and almost had the ceiling cave in and killed the people. Spidey and Cap responded heroically, especially Spidey holding back the ceiling with all of his strength. There are some fun moments in the Serpent Society brawl including a visible loss of limbs.

In the end, Thor lifts the ceiling relieving Spider-Man with the rest of the Avengers rescuing everyone. Daily Bugle runs a anti-Spidey, pro-Cap headline. I enjoyed the contrast between Cap and Spidey proving themselves as heroes. That contrast is demonstrated by Cap’s quiet dignity and Spidey’s quiet desperation. Drake Bell voices Spider-Man but I’m not whether the tentativeness comes from the character or the actor. Anyway, someone let me know if Ultimate Spider-Man is still any good.
