Now it’s time to see whether parts of three popular cartoon franchises are either awesomely righteous or facepalm-worthy wretched.
Roy Palmer is “Arsenal”
From Young Justice: Invasion S03E08: “Satisfaction”
Yes, the real Roy Palmer who left coma-ville. Lex Luthor basically traded his fleshy limb for a robotic arm of arms. Before getting his new toy, Roy went on a rampage blowing up some of the old Arrow-Lair. Also, Roy had the YJ Fight of the Week at a LexCorp parking lot with the cyborg Mercy Graves. Tsk, tsk. Roy couldn’t finish Lex with an RPG from across the street which meant FIGHT OF THE WEEK TIME!
Roy tore up a lot of stuff just to satisfy his anger with Ollie and Lex. I’m not too impressed with the former Red Arrow as an anti-hero. I am glad that Young Justice is back to new episodes and the superhero melodrama will continues. That means Mr. Harper getting a new identity is overall RIGHTEOUS.
Darth Maul Wrecks Havoc on The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, S05E01, “Revival”
This is the first time I’ve seen a full episode of The Clone Wars. By the way, I like the prequels. I said “like.”
Anyway, Obi-Wan and Forgettable Alien Jedi Girl visit some pirates and Darth Maul and his apprentice are there, too! Oh, look, battles that reminded me of the good parts of duel in Phantom Menace and clone battle in Attack of the Clones.
TCW is okay, but the idea of bringing Darth Maul back to beef up the villainy is so…WRETCHED.
Michelangelo: The Helium-Voiced Ditz
New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, S01E01-2, “Rise of the Turtles”
The Turtles played their roles magnificently. Needs more eye expressions and less anime facial markings, please. I’m not sure what the point of a Donatello-April romance is, but I hope it won’t sink the show. I shell watch the show from time to time.
One more cowabunga and RIGHTEOUS (as older incarnations of Mikey may say) for the current Nickelodeon version.
