X-Men: Days of Future Past Review (SPOILERS)

x-men-days-of-future-past-topper-web

The future, as described in this newest film, is bleak at best. Mutants and humans alike are all but extinct and only the X-Men can rise to the challenge. As humanity’s last hope, Logan must travel five decades into the past to prevent this horrifying future from ever taking place.

This is now my most favorite X-Men movie EVER! Fox has done a wonderful job saving this franchise with its newest installment. Of course, the cast is stellar and has really shown us that the X-Men are a formidable force throughout time. The villains in this movie are not all that they seem at first sight. 90s Nostalgia: Totally Kids Magazine Autumn 1994 Excerpts

fox-kids-club-topper

Fox Kids Club was a loose network of regional clubs for Fox TV affiliates. I was a member, so I got my own Fox Kids Club membership card and a subscription to the Totally Kids magazine. I recall Totally Kids being released four times a year. The one copy I have was when the Fox Kids lineup was at, or near, its peak. I liked looking forward to weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Continue reading “90s Nostalgia: Totally Kids Magazine Autumn 1994 Excerpts”

Avengers Vs. X-Men #2 Review

I am just LOVING this series! So far it has been a no-holds barred fight and it keeps getting better with all of the intimate stories being brought to light within this event. There are so many awesome things happening at once, it is hard to keep my excitement contained! From the very first page of this book, you are glued. No joke. By the third page, it’s time to change your pants. By the last page, it is time to take a nap because everyone knows how sleepy you can get after having such an adrenaline kick! John Romita Jr. was definitely the right guy for this book!

This book takes the fights you have wanted to see happen and gives them a purpose. You have the mutants believing people are trying to prevent them from ever “rising up”, and then you have the Avengers’ side which just wants to put the Phoenix Force in its place without anyone getting harmed. Too bad for them that Cyclops had to think with his heart instead of his mind. Because now EVERYONE is in a world of hurt and no one is going to be left unscathed! I don’t even think anyone will have enough energy to fight the Phoenix Force after this battle is through! Continue reading “Avengers Vs. X-Men #2 Review”

Avengers Vs. X-Men Issue One

Right from the start, you can tell this isn’t gonna be your daddy’s Avenger’s versus X-Men. This promises to be one of the best “events” in recent years. It starts off, simply enough, with the re-emergence of the Phoenix Force. If you go back to Marvel’s Point One series, you would have seen the return of Nova (not Richard Rider). Now that AvX issue one has been released, we now know it was the Phoenix Force he was running from. Continue reading “Avengers Vs. X-Men Issue One”

Avengers: X-Sanction (If it ain't broke yet, come back to the past and make sure it doesn't)

Avengers X-Sanction #1 Cover
This series has not disappointed AT ALL. Even if you have no idea what is going on in current Avengers or X-titles, and I really don’t, then you can still love this series. For one, it has Cable. Cable is one of the coolest characters in the Marvel U and this is definitely his book to shine in. You get to see Cable play Judge, Jury and Executioner in this title. THAT’S the Cable I remember from the early 90’s. And what is there even possibly NOT to like about the team of EdEx? Ed McGuinness and Dexter Vines have brought something that was much needed back to the table. Big muscles on big heroes with a smooth animated feel to round them out. I, personally, would love to see an animated series based on their art syle. I digress. Continue reading “Avengers: X-Sanction (If it ain’t broke yet, come back to the past and make sure it doesn’t)”
