Farlaine the Goblin Book 1 is a pleasant read. It presents an affable wanderer who summons all sorts of trees to get out of trouble. Fantasy lovers with kids who need something literary may benefit the most. This comic is appropriate for many kids because it never gets too scary or dark. Bryan Coyle Nominated for Russ Manning Newcomer Award

I’ve received word from Ben at Com.x comics that Babble artist Bryan Coyle has been nominated for the 2013 Russ Manning Newcomer Award. Babble, also written by Lee Robson, has been previewed and reviewed here on RHM previously. I recall being positive about it. Babble‘s an intriguing thriller about Carrie Hartnell and her fellow researchers trying to unravel the mysteries of the language of Babel. Set Sail for Exciting Adventures with Doctor Atlantis Volumes 1 & 2 (Review)

While devising the alternate universe of Watchmen, Alan Moore decided that pirate comics would satiate the imaginations of readers instead of superhero comics. I’m not comparing Atlantis to any of Moore’s works; the bold protagonists aren’t pirates. The Doctor Atlantis series would easily be at home in Moore’s alternate universe, though.
