One thing I want to add before getting into my review is that this book has mature language and scenes. In no way is it for kids. This is definitely a “mature audiences” only book. With that in mind, please read on!
Man Vs. Rock is a story about mankind’s eventual battle with the one villain that has nothing but time on its hands…rocks. That’s right, they’ve been lying in wait for millennia and are poised to make their move at any moment. But not if Professor Buck Stone has anything to say about it!
HOLY FUN! This book took a ridiculous turn at every chance it was presented and it made the journey pretty amazing! Man vs. Rock is something that should not be overlooked. Honestly, when I saw the cover and title, I was a little worried. Then I opened it up and was met with a touch of Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys. The book does keep it original though and has the makings of a SyFy channel movie. While reading this book, I kept thinking back to the early 90’s when a movie called ‘Attack of the Killer Tomatoes’ was popular. It had that very same feel to it.
Overall, I will give this book my full attention when another issue comes out. I want to see where the story goes and it has definitely grabbed my attention.
The story was written by Victor DeTroy and Kevin Bieber. You can tell they know what they are doing with the story laid out the way it is. So far, everything in the book seems to match up and gives a good history of how this battle has come to pass. The art by Jared Lamp furthers my interest in this book. It seems familiar but original at the same time. Regardless, I was digging the art during the ride and I think it really helped add to the overall joy I had in reading this book.
