REALLY Wild Speculation - The Future of SOAPnet

NOTE: I am NOT an industry INSIDER. Do not take the following speculation as CONFIRMATION.

Will people still get their nightly fix of super-wealthy jerks and convoluted romances? As far as I can interpret things, SOAPnet may stick around after March 24th:

We’re excited to announce that cult hit Veronica Mars is coming to SOAPnet! Starting on Saturday, April 7, Veronica Mars will air Saturdays from 1pm/12c to 4pm/3c, and Sundays from 10am/9c to 1pm/12c.

So, there will be a SOAPnet? Hold on:

“Yes, it’s true that ABC Family has been given the opportunity to work with SOAPnet during the transition of the channel to Disney Junior,” a spokesperson tells Soaps In Depth. “There are some great programming opportunities and numerous cable operation protocols/systems between the two groups that make this a smart move.”

SOAPnet should stick around as a block sharing time with Disney Junior. Maybe Veronica Mars will stick around after the transition as part of Disney Junior’s weekend schedule? Nope; SOAPnet & Disney Junior are distinct channels.

I see that the transition is not coming along smoothly. SOAPnet was supposed to be a goner last month.

While I’m not a fan of the soap opera genre, I do sneak a peek at never-ending Newman-Abbot feud. Hopefully ABC/Disney will get rid of SOAPnet so that there will be a nightly home to melodramatic shakeups.

New Site, But Interior Design Ain't Fabulous

Whew. After way too many hours than I expected the site is now in a publicly viewable state. To future webmasters: it’s good to build up your CSS-Fu.
