Opening quote is from The Second Coming by W.B. Yeats.
This episode, “Bad Teeth,” has enough plot threads to weave a blanket. The arrival of Nick Burkhardt’s (David Giuntoli) mother (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), finding a cure for Burkhardt’s girlfriend, Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch), discovering the Reapers’ machinations, disposal of the Coins of Zakynthos, a villainous hunt for Burkhardt’s secret key and the police case of a slaughtering on a ship that’s turned over to two FBI agents. A new feline Wesen, Mauvais Dentes, commits that atrocity and is aligned with Renard.
That’s a lot to demand viewers to follow. The main cast, along with Mastrantonio taking the place of mentor Aunt Marie, fits in fine in creepy Portland. As a continuation of the series not a re-introduction this isn’t the best episode for new viewers. If NBC wants to impress with eerie atmosphere, humanoid monster facial effects and severe corpse wounds then they succeeded.
I can’t fully recommend until I see the conclusion. Two hooves out of four.
