Tron: Uprising: The Renegade, Part 2 (S01E03) Review

Lots of heroics on display here in “The Renegade: Part 2.” Beck, Cutler, and even Zed and Mara shown their quality. Also, light boats! I think Paige is the potential breakout character in Tron: Uprising.

Beck takes the mantle of Tron Beck and Cutler had their fight that was decreed by Cutler from the end of Part 1. Cutler has Beck down, but decides to forfeit. Tessler allows Beck to go free, but Cutler is to be shipped to his de-rezzing. Is Cutler a goner after two episodes? Nope. He and Beck, as Tron, escape through the city and into the docks.

The duo dodge guards, Paige, and a tank. While at the dock, a boat chase ensues. The heroes’ boat flees from Tessler’s massive warship but is rammed by the side of Pavel’s boat. Under heavy fire from Tessler, Beck couldn’t cut their boat free, so original Tron saves them by slicing a light trail with his cool light sub. Beck and Cutler go back to the dock.

Cutler, unaware that Beck is Tron, begins to spread the word of Tron’s existence and find more allies at Beck’s urging. I wonder who’ll be at their side.

Maybe Paige or Pavel?

Zed and Mara search for Able’s missing Encom 786 bike. Perl, who stole the classic bike, ends up in the docks herself trying to sell it. The dealer takes a joyride on the 786. Zed and Mara arrive to take the bike back but are discovered. Perl lets everyone know how pathetic Zed is. Mara backs up her friend with a swift punch to Perl. Zed then grabs the baton, starts the bike, and drives he and Mara away. The gang pursues them.

Ultimately, Zed lowers a shipping crate separating Mara and him from the gang. Both plots dovetail: the gang find encounter Paige and this amusing moment occurs:

After the action at Able’s shop, Beck see Zed and Mara fixing the 786 and decides to finish the job. There’s a pleasant reunion of the four mechanics.
